We picked up the Sonicare Healthy White (previously owned the Essence). We like the Healthy White much better, as it has a pin-design where you can pop on the new brush (instead of screwing it on). It stays cleaner. As for the brush heads - the ProResults are far better than the HydroClean, due to the fact the ProResults have more bristles. The HydroClean brush heads only have a narrow band along the sides and open middle where water flows out. So if you need to shop around or look on Amazon for the ProResults brushes - it's well worth the effort. They seem to do a much better job at cleaning and feel more comfortable against the teeth and gums.

The cordless unit works great in the shower. A full charge will operate the unit for 20 to 30 uses before needing to recharge. It has very ample jet action and will clean a mouthful of teeth before running out of water with a little practice. Until you can get proficient you may want to refill the the unit twice, once for the top set of teeth and once for the bottom. I like it and use it routinely.

I brought this item only a couple of weeks ago and have only used it a few times (maybe 10 times) and it has already started to malfunction. At first I thought it needed to be recharged but after charging it overnight I had the same problem. Now it operates fine for ONLY 3 seconds then quickly loses all its power. After many years of using sonicare and watching their quality deteriorate I decided to try something else. (My last Sonicare case leaked from the beginning and cleaning it was a hassel(the case stunk from putrid water if not cleaned out every time) plus the brushes were not doing a good job of cleaning my teeth). After a little research, I ordered the Oral B Triumph Electric tooth brush. Wow.. From the first brushing the oral B has cleaned my teeth better than anything I have ever used. The vigerous brushing action of the oral B is far superior to the punny vibration of the sonicare brush.And if one does not like the vigerous action setting of the Oral B, it also has a less vigerous setting. The case of the oral B is tight and does not leak as does the sonicare. Congratulations to the makers of Oral B electric tooth brush. I hope to be a customer for many years.

Braun has gradually been developing more and more advanced products in its Oral-B line. I bought this one in part because of its built-in multi-voltage capabilities, after I burned out an Oral-B Excel ultra model when I attempted to charge it through a voltage transformer in a Roman hotel.

I don't find the Smart Guide particularly useful, since the toothbrush handle has a built in timing mechanism via a stronger pulsation every 30 seconds. However, the built-in electronic sensors that convey to the brush handle the type of brush that has been inserted and change the brushing mode accordingly seem very useful.

Although my next checkup will provide the ultimate commentary on this device, my guess is that the seemingly high cost of the Oral-B Triumph is well worth it in improved dental health.

This system is a great toothbrush that polishes teeth, cleans teeth and massages your gums.

The Smart Guide, doubles as a clock, and notifies you of the mode that your toothbrush is operating in, whether you are using too much pressure, and acts as a visual guide for each quadrant that you are brushing.

The handle is solid in construction and is waterproof. The brushes come off easily for cleaning.

The stand is the only thing that requires assembly, which holds the brushes and charges the unit. It is a little large for practical travel.

The unit took overnight to charge. An indicator shows the battery life remaining. It is easy to turn on and off with the larger button closer to the toothbrush. A smaller triangular button allows you to change modes which are reflected on the Smart Guide. As you move from one quadrant to another (every 30 seconds), there is a pause that lets you know to move onto the next quadrant.

Noise is minimal to average. It is about as quiet as a high end electrical razor. The only drawback is the lack of a carrying case and brush cap for travel.

This is a great system for dental health. It is easy to use and relatively simple to set up. I highly recommend it.

I got this after reading the reviews here on Amazon and, despite the people with battery issues, went for it. We got some extra heads so my hubby & I can both use it. I love this thing! It reaches easily all the way to the backs of the back teeth, has already helped with tartar stains and overall dental health. We leave the handle in the charger on the sink and drop the heads in the holder on the charger. It's very easy to clean - just pop the head off, run it under water and tap it once or twice. Dry the handle and put it away. No weird little crevices or tricky bits. And trust me, those two minutes fly by! Just get it. It's worth it!

Per the recommendation of my brother-in-law, who is also my dentist, I made the switch from Sonicare to Braun Oral-B. I love this toothbrush. The Smart Guide is helpful. You may track your brushing time and speed without having to pause to look at the handle. I like that Oral-B's brush heads are compatible with all of the toothbrushes. If they introduce a new type of replacment head, you don't have to have the latest model toothbrush in order to try it out.

Amazon offered the best price (through JR Computer World). Shipping was reasonably quick.

I was always skeptical of Electric Toothbrushes. I never believed that they did anything different than what a Manual toothbrush could do and I never could justify the price. I was planning on getting the Oral B 9950 from Amazon but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much money, even if it was a great deal. I happened to be in Costco one day and saw the Oral B 8850 two-pack. I ended up getting it for $74.99 and I am glad I did.

I noticed the difference immediately after my first brushing. My teeth felt polished and deep-cleaned. I had to switch to "Sensitive Mode" because the regular Cleaning Mode was a little too rough for the first time. Now after 2 weeks of brushing with my 8850 I will never go back to a Manual toothbrush again. One of my biggest concerns was the back of my teeth. Waaaaay in the back. They always seemed to accumulate tartar throughout the day no matter how hard I brushed back there with my manual, I even started to take a brush and toothpaste to work with me but since I started with the 8850 I no longer have tartar back there at all. Instead it's a smooth, polished surface that stays clean all day and all night.

The 8850 has 3 modes. Clean, Sensitive & Polish. The "Clean Mode" is regular strength brushing. You push the button the handle once to start. The "Sensitive Mode" is a little softer cleaning. To get to that mode you push the button twice. And "Polish" is for polishing. You push the button a third time to get to that mode.

The handle also has it's own timer built in. After every 30 seconds it pulses and after a full 2 minutes it pulses 4 times to let you know you're done. However, when it pulses it does slow down/interrupt the brushing for 1 or 2 beats. It's something I got used to but my boyfriend absolutely hates it. To some this could be a draw back but for myself, it's not a deal breaker, just a small annoyance.

One great thing about these brushes is that they hold a charge. According to the directions they hold their charges for up to 2 weeks after you charge it for 16 hours. The handles also have indicator lights when the handle is charged and when it needs re-charged. I have only charged my brushes once since I've purchased them and there has been no difference in power since my first charging.

As for the natural whitening, I do see a difference in the shade of my teeth. I am a non-smoker, non-drinker but I drink coffee, tea and soda. I haven't changed my toothpaste - I use Colgate Total + Whitening - and I credit the whiter shades to the toothbrush.

I highly recommend this set to anyone who wants to switch from a Hardcore Manual Toothbrush User to an Electric Tooth Brush believer. These toothbrushes are inexpensive compared to other brands and they do everything advertised. It's a great investment.

I still love my toothbrush and am still very please with the lighter shades my teeth have become. I recently went to the dentist and the hygienist spent significantly less time scraping and cleaning my teeth than what I'm used to. So I stand by my review and my recommendation to pick one up. BUT - I don't know if others have experienced this, my handle is no longer staying charged for the full two weeks. It seemed that I was charging it more and more and one day I decided to write down when it was charged last and what do you know, the charge is only lasting 6 days now. I'm pretty disappointed considering I haven't even had it a full year yet. But it still works exactly the same as it did when I bought it, minus the charging issue, and it still is cleaning my teeth how I expect.

Reviews on the usefulness of an electronic toothbrush vs a regular toothbrush are pretty deadlocked. I have read that there is no real significant difference in brush quality between the two. What is nice about this particular brush is it has a small head so it can get into the nooks of my mouth. It is very easy to really get into the back of my lower front teeth, where most of the plaque forms in people. I can also hit the back of my back teeth with this sucker. Finally, having a timer seemed stupid at first, but it is incredibly helpful. It autostarts when you start brushing and tells you when its time to change quadrants of your mouth. I never knew how little time i was using to brush my teeth (around 1 minute) until i got this. At the very least it helped me change my habits.

I bought this to replace another brand's toothbrush that had a head that dispensed toothpaste. The company discontinued it and you couldn't find any replacement heads. I saw some guy on Amazon trying to sell a replacement head for $175.00!!!! For that amount of money you could buy one and a half new units. IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.Since I agree with all of the other 5 star ratings, I thought I would address the CONS from the less than 5 star ratings. And, there is no sense in repeating all of the great things in all of the excellent in-depth reviews on this Oral-B Toothbrush.

Con: THE WIRELESS SMART GUIDE'S CLOCK CAN ONLY BE SET AT 12:00.

Response: The wireless smart guide clock can be set to either 12 or 24 hour a day clock.

And, I love having the clock sitting on my bathroom counter top to help me keep track of my morning schedule.

Con: YOU REALLY DON'T NEED THIS PART AS IT ONLY TELLS YOU WHEN THE RECOMMENDED TIME OF 2 MINUTES IS DONE.

Response: As is stated above, it is also a very accurate clock and can also keep track of the 45 second brushing cycles. I like this feature. Also, if you tend to brush too firmly a little red light flashes on the LCD screen and the pulsation of the brush stops.

Con: You'll also receive a timer that reminds you when to move to a different quadrant of your mouth; a useless gimmick for an adult, in my opinion.

Response: I am an adult and I still love this feature. It is very easy not to brush your teeth long enough especially if you are in a hurry. The timer doesn't allow this to happen.

Now, some extra PROs:

Previously I was a diehard Philips Sonicare user for many years. But, I was having some problems with my gums and deep plaque buildup. I finally decided that there must be something better and more effective. After much research online and with my dentist's input, I decided on the Oral-B. I absolutely love the deep cleaning feature and brush head. Actually, I never use any other head or brushing strength other than the deep cleaning mode and brush head. The brush head has numerous styles of bristles that accomplish different things from deep cleaning, removing plaque, cleaning between teeth, massaging gums, etc. You couldn't give me my Philips Sonicare back.

My original hesitance was the price. But, it was worth the money considering I only have one set of teeth and gums.

One minor CON: The user manual was not written to be user friendly. It does a poor job of explaining how to set the Smart Guide Clock features. Just be prepared to read it carefully and keep it nearby for a few days. When you consider all of the awesome features, the user manual is not worth losing a start or a half star.

The brush action makes it fun to brush your teeth and makes my teeth feel especially clean.What I don't need nor use is the extra external timer you see on the package. (The toothbrush itself pauses for a quick second to let you know youv'e finished a quadrant and it's time to move on to the next quadrant). Two timers are a bit redundant and I would have bought the cheaper version of the same toothbrush had I known the external timer served only that one purpose.

PS. Make sure you turn off the toothbrush before removing it from your mouth !! lol

I've had this brush for over a year now and can tell you, it's worth every penny.Initially I had a sonic care brush, but quickly preferred this to the sonic care. First, it's much easier to clean than the sonic care and in my book ,that's a huge plus, nobody wants to spend 15 minutes cleaning hard to reach dirt in crevices. Both of the brushes left my teeth feeling as if I had just finished coming out of the dentist's office.I can brush my teeth about 10 times between charges and that's just so convenient. However, full charge takes about 2 days or so; that's not a big deal if you've got two of these babies!!!I'm now a big fan of Braun products because of this and the Braun pocket go shaver.

I have been using oral-b/water pik electric toothbrushes for over 30 years. This is one of the best electric toothbrushes I have ever used. Another reviewer said that these are single-speed handles, but the power handles I received are marked type: 3728 and are two-speed handles.

Our model 4736 lasted over 8 years with heavy use. When we first got it my wife and I were the only users and we are now up to 6 users. Two power handles are now a necessity. We were able to use the charging base from the 4736 for the second handle. The ratings are exactly the same.

One of the nice features oral-b build into their brushed is the ability to take them apart at the end of their life and remove the batteries for recycling. The instructions are on the bottom of the charging base.

I bought this set as a Valentine's day present for my boyfriend and I, and we both absolutely love it! Neither of us have ever had an electric toothbrush before, but it is a 150% step-up compared to brushing manually! My dentist immediately saw an improvement, and she said it was visibly decreasing tarter build-up along with strengthening my gums. I personally find that the two-minute timer, including 30 second intervals is extremely helpful as well, even if it is just for a piece of mind. Overall, I find this tootbrush to do an exceptional job at a great price! Highly Recommended!

I use this, since I have soft enamel. The bristles are the softest that oral-b makes, and are even a little softer than the heads that I got from with my Cybersonic toothbrush back in 2000. The color does fade to indicate when it is time to replace the head. My dentist started to notice stains on my teeth a few years after I bought Oral-B Triumph; it turn out the motor slowly dies over time. I didn't realize how weak it had been for year until it started to stall, and I had to buyt a new toothbrush. So, be mindful of your toothbrush's strength. But you might not be able to notice, so if your Dentist tells you that you have more stains than you usually have, it is probably time to replace the toothbrush and not just the head.

The heads don't have a microchip to communicate their usage to the fancier Oral-b toothbrushes like some other heads.

This brush was recommended to me by my own dentist. He wanted me to try a sonic brush, but avoid paying the very high prices out there. The results so far have been nothing but very clean teeth and gums. There is also a 2 minute timer which helps a lot. I dont understand the negative feedback with a $20 brush. Yeah, it only has a 20,000 vpm instead of the 30,000 vpm expensive sonic brushes... but your cost is a fraction of those. Great buy forthe money.

To let you get an idea about how weak it is: it vibrates at 20,000Hz while the Sonic Complete S-200 vibrates at 29,400 in Soft mode (31,000 in Clean mode).

Oral-B says the soft mode is for brushing tongue and soft tissue. I.e., this thing at its full power is still far more softer than soft, how can it do any clean job to anything at all?

I was happy with my old Oral-B which lasted for years ( it did not have the timer), so I purchased the model 9513 to replace it. This new one lasted only 4 months. it has a faulty power switch and turns off only when it wants to. I see they replaced this model completely. The old model had a large charger that the cord could be stuffed into and then you could plug the charger stand directly into the outlet, hanging from the outlet and getting it off the counter. great feature, too bad none of the new ones can do that.

I bought this product over a week ago. I had been without an electric toothbrush for a couple of months since my old old old Sonicare charger died. I couldn't afford to buy another expensive toothbrush so I went for a Vitality. I was skeptical at first but once I started using it, I notice my plague has been reduced drastically... something I couldn't have done by hand brushing. I have been very impressed and happy with this product. In terms of replacement tips, they are readily available at Target and Amazon. They are cheaper than the circular or dual action tips. They are most definitely cheaper than the Sonicare ones.

I am happy with the way the product works. The pauses at 30 second intervals can be annoying, but their purpose is to inform the user of the time passed while brushing. There may be a way to eliminate the pauses; I will need to read the user's manual more thoroughly. The product equals or exceeds the quality of cleaning I had with a previous Oral-B electric toothbrush. I would recommend other customers purchase this product.

This toothbrush is great. My dentist commented that my teeth were cleaner before he knew I had bought and electric toothbrush. I also always used to brush too hard with a manual toothbrush, but now I feel like my teeth get really clean even if brushing gently. Highly recommended!

My sister and her husband each have a Crest SpinBrush and kept telling me how great they are. I must say, I'm a believer now. I have lived with gingivitis for years. I brush every day, but my flossing habits aren't the best. Only having used this product for a week and I can already see a reduction in gum swelling. REALLY! ONE WEEK! I'm still amazed.

Yes, it's makes noise, but it's not deafening. It's not a loud as say a hair trimmer, so yes it's very tolerable. If you're worried about the noise being amplified by your jawbone inside your head, relax. When it's just the bristles against your teeth, there's no noise, but if the back of the brush head touches an opposing tooth, yup your head rings out, but that only happens once or twice to me when brushing.

The main thing that surprised me is it's very relaxing to brush my teeth now. I never timed my brush habits, but I think I'm taking longer. The drum of the motor and the feel of the moving bristles on my teeth is somewhat soothing. Maybe I'm just crazy, wouldn't be the first time.

The ONLY reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because now that I've checked the replacement heads for the Crest are a little more expensive that for other competing models. Still worth it for better gum health though!

Update 10/23/09: OK I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars. I just ordered/received the Amazon soft bristle replacements and the cost was for two 2 packs (that's 4 heads). That's a reasonable price. Also, the original alkalines still going strong!

I had never tried an electric toothbrush and this looked like an enexpensive way to see if I wanted a "real" one. I got this on sale a several months ago and I use it a few times a week (relax, I use the manual one the rest of the time). I figured it would last long enough for me to see how I liked it, then it would die.

It has been working great and I really like the action. The battery that came with it burned out fairly quick, but the second battery is still going.

The brush replacements they had left are a little strange looking, something about adding treatments, but I just ignore that. The brush works the same as any other except it has an extra rubber thing that is supposed to keep you floride gel on your teeth I think.

If it does ever die then I will buy a non-battery electric toothbrush, and one likethis (both spin action and back-and-forth action in the same head).

This is a fantastic toothbrush, but apparently it is not compatible with peroxide & baking soda toothpaste. I think there have been some instances of brush heads breaking in peoples' mouths. Crest has pulled the product from retailers and claims to be working on the problem.

I hope they get the problem fixed and re-introduce the product. For now, I can't find replacement heads anywhere.

Power toothbrushes are a mystery to me and my wife. Why is is that some of them can be so damn expensive and some don't? We, as a couple, moved to power brushes when Crest came out with cheap ones that needed to have the batteries replaced. But we soon got sick and tired of that because of its bulkiness, its inability to maintain a constant speed because of battery leakage, and replacing batteries every once in a while (which also was not an easy task). Then we came across this toothbrush from Oral and we have loved it ever since. It gives a good clean, it is rechargeable, and the brush heads are not expensive. I still don't get why Oral does not have more of these in stores and why some of their other versions are so expensive but we are happy with this selection and hope that Oral does not decide to let it go because it is cannibalizing its high-end power brushes.

In less than 6 months after purchase, my new Oral B toothbrush developed a very short recharged battery life. I only got 1 or 2 uses after a 24 hour recharging. I bought this toothbrush about 3 weeks ago at W-mart for $12.99 and I really like it. My Crest Spinbrush broke and I wanted something rechargeable but couldn't afford to spend $80+ on a toothbrush so I picked this up. I have sensitive teeth and my gums bleed sometimes, but I have not had any discomfort at all with this toothbrush. It's quieter than the spinbrush and the entire unit is smaller which makes it much more comfortable to use. The vibrations almost tickle, I don't find it bothersome at all and my teeth and gums look and feel cleaner and healthier. I think this is a great toothbrush for those of us on a budget.

I find this brush to be far more comfortable to use than the standard Oral-B brush head -- no gum irritation at all, but it still gets my teeth feeling clean. I alternate between this brush and the Floss-Action head (the one with the plastic paddles in addition to the bristles). The Floss Action works better at getting in between teeth, but can be a bit hard on the gum line (but not as bad as the standard brush head). Using and alternating between both the soft and the Floss Action works very well for me.

I love this, works as described, runs warm (not hot), and easy to use. The toothbrush is dry and clean the next time I'm ready to use it. The only con: this unit is intended to be left plugged in, perpetually, and never completely shuts off.

P.S. Don't push your toothbrush in too far, or the bottom of the plastic basket might break through. That part doesn't seem to be made very well.

About 9 months ago I bought this set for my family of four. It comes with two adult heads and then I bought two compact heads for my children ages 5 and 7. We have to switch heads around every evening when we're brushing. At first I didn't know how long we'd be willing to keep that up, but we love our sonicare cleanings so much that it feels natural now to deal with a small amount of hassle. Our teeth are so clean now! It seems unthinkable to return to manual toothbrushes...ever! It also seemed natural to be sure that my kids would have the same quality clean. No doubt it will save us pain/money down the road. The first time my kids used the brushes they screamed at the speed of the vibrations. I wasn't sure they'd get used to it, but they did within days. No problems at all. Geez, it felt crazy to me too. But I love the way it feels now. It massages your gums while you brush. Very invigorating.
Anyhow....love it...
cons: the brush heads are SO EXPENSIVE!!! However, we just use them longer than the recommended 3 months and buy a refill pack from Costco. I think it's a worthy investment!

Had bought this 2+ years ago somewhere other than Amazon and was for the most part happy. My biggest complaint was that gunk and water gets in between where the brush screws on. I did not think much of this at the time but I recently learned that this then leaked into the unit causing it to fail. As the warranty had expired I was forced to buy a new toothbrush, I bought another sonicare but this time one that should not allow water to get in. Time will tell if I made the right decision.

"Surprisingly poor quality for an OralB product" 2010-04-18

I purchased a multi-pack of electric toothbrush heads from USHealth Tests and Products (via Amazon) several months ago. Unfortunately the competitive price of this product did not make up for the poor quality and unsafety of it. During brushing, small pieces of metal came out of the toothbrush heads and shot into the gums and lips, sometimes causing lacerations. After this, the round brushing part of the head would come loose itself.

After 3 of the toothbrush heads did this, I contacted the seller by email and then by phone and explained the problem to them. They apologized and explained that this was a generic product from a chinese manufacturer and although they had never run into this/any problem with their products before, they would send me a replacement (oral B original) product. I agreed.

Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, as I began to use these "original oral B" toothbrush heads, the same problem has recurred with pieces of metal shooting out of the rotating toothbrush head during brushing and hitting the gums and lips. I've been using oral B electric toothbrushes for a few years and have never seen anything like this. I'm not exactly sure if this second set I have received are really oral B products or not.

My point is that low price apparently means poor quality, at least in the case of this seller.

I've always been happy with Oral-B/Braun products until now. The brushes I purchased and used just simply don't work as well as the originals. The bristles seem much softer and not as effective. On the package of four that I received it did say "Flexsoft EB-17-4". Perhaps these are a different style and softer bristle. In any event be aware of the style that is being sold and know that the original type was a more firm bristle, and more effective.

I've been using a Sonicare for a number of years and LOVE it so I was really excited when I found this Sonicare for kids at Target. The two different size brushes were perfect for my 8 & 6 year olds. Only two weeks into using the toothbrush, it stopped working. It seemed like the problem was caused by switching out the brushes for each of the kids. I was always the one doing the switch so I know that it wasn't being abused in any way. I returned to Target and happily exchanged for a new one. The same thing happened with the second one as well. It didn't last as long as the first one. I would NOT recommend this for anyone using it for more than one child.

My youngest son(6)has soft enamel and has been getting cavities since he was 2 years old! A children's hygenist recommended this toothbrush and said it really helps the kids clean their teeth effectively. Every night and morning it was a fight, including tears, to get him to brush. Now my both kids ask if it is time to brush! They like the timer that tells them when to switch sides, the motion isn't too much in the automatic toothbrush and they think it is just like the adults toothbrush. I was skeptical but the kids love it. I did buy two because the idea of sharing the same toothbrush base did not work for the 10 year old, and then the youngest child picked the same faceplate as his older brother so we used a sharpie to mark initials on each brush so depending on the ages of your kids you might not be able to share the base. We use our adult Sonicare UV sanitizer case to sanitize the kids brush heads as well. This Sonicare brush is fair superior to the less expensive automatic toothbrush I was giving the kids and they definetly brush longer on their own with no fights!

We bought 2 of these for our children and not only have we noticed there teeth are beter taken care of, but they actually have at least a reasonably good time during brushing. The music that plays at intervals helps hem know when to move to the next area and when they are done. Previously we might have goten them to brush for 1 minute tops. Now they continue for the full 2 minutes. Would definitely recommend to others.

This toothbrush has been a real God-send for us. We use it on both our 3 year old daughter and our 2 year old boy (red head for the girl, blue for the boy). Despite diligent manual tooth-brushing, our daughter was having lots of pre-cavity symptoms like discoloration and white spots. After we started using this toothbrush her teeth cleaned right up and her gums look much healthier. The dentist was very pleased with her last check-up.

With our son the problem was a bit different. It took two of us to brush his teeth - one holding him down and the other trying to pry his mouth open and brush. After watching his sister getting brushed with the sonicare, he walked right up and popped his mouth open to be brushed too, and that has continued ever since! We just had his check-up and were told he has excellent oral hygiene.

One of the things that we like best about it is that the 4-7 year old size heads are just the right size, even for our 2 year old (who has been using it since he was 18 months). We had tried the cheaper oral-B electric toothbrushes and though the kids liked the characters on them, the brush heads were so bulky that it was difficult to get on the cheek side of the teeth and the quality of brushing doesn't even begin to compare to the sonicare. I know one of the reviews complains that the handle is too big, but we have not found that to be so. On the occasions that we let our 2 year old try to do his own teeth, he has no problem with the handle either. We are TOTALLY pleased with this toothbrush. We believe the initial cost and brush replacement costs are more than compensated for in savings at the dentists office.

I recommend this brush not just for kids, but for adults with limited dexterity, crowded teeth, heavy stain, and those who found the original Sonicare too strong for their sensitive teeth, but want the toothbrush with the best ability to remove stains. I can agree that I have seen significant stain removal after a week of using the brush, and it is a great investment for anyone who is interested in whitening their teeth. The two head sizes make this a versatile brush for everyone. Safe if you have veneers, implants, etc. Just take the time to read the brushing instructions - this is not like the other brushes on the market.

I bought this to take to Iraq. I would have to echo the reviews that state the product quits working after a few weeks. After about a week, I had to change the batteries. After 2 weeks, I had to start shaking it to get the light to turn on. Now, I'm just waiting for it to quit working all together. I haven't become sick of anything yet, so in that light the product works. Other than that, if you have other means to sanitize your toothbrush, use those instead.

(1) Anything that gets on your toothbrush head was ALREADY in your mouth. Unless you think your houseguests are cleaning their shoe soles with your toothbrush while you aren't looking.
(2) You are sitting a wet toothbrush head in this gizmo. Which means it is sitting in a puddle of water that is likely to mold/mildew. So you can put mold/mildew INTO your mouth (that was NOT in your mouth before).
(3) The puddle of water is likely to (a) rust out the innards of this gizmo and (b) short-circuit the gizmo's electronics.
(4) The American Dental Association says these gizmos have no proven beneficial health benefits[...]
Given all that, it seems your money would be better spent betting "Hard 8" at the Craps table in Vegas.

What a great idea. What a poor execution of an idea. Who was in charge of product development? I would recommend they actually should have tried to use the device before they put it on the market. Zero stars.

Key points:
* Wastes batteries. I'm not sure how this happens since it doesn't work most of the time.
* The light, insert point for the neck grip, and pretty much any other access point that water can get through, it will and does. Which makes the actual usage intermitent. I found that if you let it dry out for a few days it will usually dry enough for it to work again. Shaking helps - sometimes. But, isn't the point to be using it every time you use your toothbrush? Critics may say, "shake the toothbrush off before you put it away". Been there. Done that. As carefull as I am, water leaks in, accumulates and compromises the usability. I have opened the battery compartment more than once to find moisture.
* For the money this costs it should have a life span of more than a few weeks. A disclaimer should be included as to how long the unit will actually operate in regular use. This unit is virtually disposable given it's life span.
I recieved one as a gift some time after the one I purchased gave out - which lasted about 5 weeks. The new one was no better and lasted about 6 weeks. I also recieved the Zapi UV Toothbrush Sanitizer, also by Violight, as a gift; it lasted about 4 weeks. They didn't learn anything from the failures of the first effort. Still leaks water into the unit and makes for build up of moisture and subsequently mold/mildew if you don't take it apart frequently to clean it. The opening for the toothbrush won't easily accept wider head brushes. Horrible design because as my brush scrapes through the opening I think "great it's going to be cleaned off... but what about when I pull it back through?"...
Final review - Violight, go back to the drawing board. Don't waste your money.

I know this toothbrush is expensive but it works wonders and lasts a long time. My teeth have never felt cleaner or my breath fresher for the entire day, and I brush twice a day. No bad breath even after coffee, and my teeth feel clean all day. I enjoy the transition pauses that tell me when to move on to another part of my mouth, and the brush head changes color when it's time for a new head. I really enjoy this toothbrush.

I judge products by how they perform and how the manufacturer treats the purchaser when things go wrong. Philips don't care about Sonicare.

A toothbrush is an item that is used every day so when I vist Europe - my toothbrush come with me.

I have used many electronic items in Europe - always of course using a voltage regulator. Philips Sonicare products are damaged. The charger ceased to function - there and back in the USA

I contacted Philips and was told to purchase something else.

I assume that this is an attitude that their product advisers are taught

This really does a good job at sanding off that pesky hard to reach tartar, especially near the gumline, which is where my regular toothbrush was failing to clean, no matter how hard I scrubbed. Now, my teeth feel smoother and look shinier; all in less time! Takes getting used to, though, as it vibrates your skull as you brush, but hey, it helps wake you up in the morning. Most importantly, it makes brushing fun and should, no, WILL motivate even the laziest person to brush twice a day, as recommended by your dentist. :D

I have owned this toothbrush for about 18 months, and up until a few weeks ago loved it like no other toothbrush I have ever owned. Nothing has ever made my teeth feel as clean, and I saw the results when I went to the dentist and was in & out of the chair in no time.

Starting about two weeks ago, though, the toothbrush has had a life of its own. Sometimes it won't turn on, sometimes it turns off & on randomly when I am in the middle of brushing my teeth, sometimes it won't shut off, for up to 10 minutes at a time. It used to hold its charge beautifully (I could travel up to a week without needing to carry the charger), but now it can be dead in hours. It is no longer the toothbrush I adored!

Most frustrating, though, has been the manufacturer's response. Both Braun & Oral-B are under the impression it is the other's problem. If I want to fix it, it is apparently up to me to find my local 'toothbrush repair center' on my own (I honestly cannot say I had ever heard of such a thing) and cover all associated costs. The warranty is designed to last right up until the unit actually breaks.

Maybe I am naive, but for a product that can cost $150+, I expect more life - and more support - than this.

This item is advertised as a 9950, but just beware, you may (I did) receive an Oral-B SmartSeries 5000 with a note in the box telling you it's just an improved 9950. For all I know, maybe the 5000 is a great product, I don't know yet, but I do think this company needs to advertise accurately, and not just give you a note assuring you it's OK.

Also, when I ordered this, there were postings for the 5000 and it was cheaper than it was from this seller. It also has slightly worse reviews than the 9950. I am very unhappy with the way this company has conducted business. I will edit this when I have had a chance to try the SmartSeries 5000 that I overpaid for and did not intend to purchase.

Left the stars at 3 for now to be middle of road, though really, that extra star is probably undeserved.

I've owned numerous Braun toothbrushes. None ever broke down on me. I just wanted to own the latest and greatest. Spending $100 or so on a gadget that keeps me out of the dentist's chair is well worth it to me. There's no question that these toothbrushes work amazingly well. However, one still has to floss and it also helps to use Butler Gum Soft-Picks to finish the job in hard to reach places.

The one complaint that I have against the Triumph line of electric toothbrushes is that the recharger can trap dirt and it's hard to clean out. The old chargers were far easier to clean and there was no place for dirt to get trapped. I wish Braun went back to that design.

This is the same product as the Sonicare 5500(one brush)and the 5750 (two). This product is excellent!!! I have had one for a few years and this purchase was for my family. Fantastic value for the money ($100bucks). Love the 2minute timer, with 30 second intervals. This toothbrush is like "Brushing for Dummies". Turn it on, put it in your mouth, it tells you when to change sides etc. and then it turns off. Lasts for 2 weeks on a charge so perfect for vacations. Comes with an extra brush head each so the product is good for a year before needing replacements. Can understand why it comes with only one charger as most would buy it for one bathroom. Like I said above, I already have one and bought this for my mom and hubby. My mom took the charger with her and my hubby uses mine. Would suggest getting the sonic seal, (cheaper from the actual website) which my son calls a toothbrush condom, to go with it.

Perhaps the highest compliment I can give this product is that it has made me enjoy brushing my teeth. After years of reluctance and thinking it insane to spend this kind of bread when a toothbrush can be had for a couple of bucks, I sprang for it on the recommendation of my dentist. (and incentive via a large coupon from him, provided by the manufacturer to be given to his patients)

I considered myself to be competent at brushing my own teeth, and this product proved me wrong. Previously, my teeth only felt polished-smooth once every six months- after, that is, my dentist visit and professional cleaning. With this, my teeth feel that clean and polished after every single brushing. It is simply amazing.

High Points:
1. This particular kit comes with two bases (the battery part), and two extra brush heads (for four, total), a charging station, and two travel cases that neatly and cleanly store your brush head and base for traveling.
2. Excellent battery life - my battery unit lasts over one week between charges; I don't store my handle on the charger nightly. This is great for travel, as for anything but extended trips I only bring along a fully-charged base and brush head in its handy travel case and leave the charger behind.
3. Soft start feature - this is awesome for newbies such as myself. For the first dozen (If I remember correctly) uses, it operates with slightly reduced power, thereby easing your gums into the experience. As it was, it tickled like crazy; this feature 'conditions' your gums, if you will, and makes it much easier to transition from using a toothbrush.
4. The quadpacer feature is effective. Like any easily trained beast- excepting my cat- I responded very well to the subtle prompts that the toothbrush gives to move to a different quadrant. A split-second pause in the brushing action prompts you to move along. For me, it was always difficult to cover all my teeth equally well, so I love this feature. It is non-intrusive but effective at keeping you focused on how you ought to be brushing. Want to brush longer? No worries- just press the power button and keep on brushing.
5. Charger design - This really appealed to me, as I have a very curious toddler. The charging stand has no prongs, fittings, or other electrical connections in its base. It just presents a nice, boring surface that my toddler shows no interest in. The charging station charges the handle indirectly. This also makes for a cleanable surface.
6. The brush heads are nice and compact and the bristles are soft. Despite this, they are extremely effective at cleaning.

In the end, I had to ask myself what is the value of not having gum disease, cavities, or lost teeth due to inadequate cleaning? My own answer was that it was far, far more than what this unit cost.

Others probably do a much better job at using a toothbrush than I apparently did, but for me this Sonicare is amazing and has resulted nothing short of better oral health. My teeth are cleaner and whiter, my gums are healthier,and I now actually look forward to brushing where before I did not. This skeptic has been convinced. Highly recommended!

The first time I used it I started laughing and spit toothpaste all over the bathroom. It tickeled so much and felt like making out with a vibrator. But I quickly got used to it. I got this one so my wife and I could have separate brushes and wouldn't have to switch heads to brush our teeth. There's also two travel cases. There's one charger and it is not a problem to share because the charge lasts so long. Also nice is the feature where it slowly increases strength over the first week you use it. My teeth have never been so clean.

"Oral B 8900DLX Oral Care Center" 2010-03-29

I bought this as a replacement for my 12 year old Braun Oral B OC-9525, Model 4714 that had served me well, but eventually its battery stopped holding a charge, and the pump began to leak. I expected the new model, which looks very similar, to perform like its predecessor.

This is a case, I believe, of a product's design being "over-improved". The new 8900 DLX has a more aggressive brush design, and seems to produce more vibration. Even at its lowest speed setting, this has, I believe, been a bit too rough for my single dental implant. I have had some pain develop at my implant a few hours after use, and have since then stopped using the brush over the implant. This complicates my brushing procedure.

Another difference is in the design of the irrigator nozzle. The old model had a single little jet that was easy to guide around gum-line and spaces between teeth, and it had a feature where the nozzle could be retracted in order to get a low-intensity flush. With the new irrigator, the monojet-stream emits from a wider, low-profile tip, making it more difficult to aim, and, even though it has a wide-stream jet setting, this setting produces a more intense, shower-head type spray of water than the old model. I am a bit hesitant to use either irrigator setting around my implant as they both feel a bit too powerful.

I have always had good check-ups, with no plaque or gum problems since I have used the Oral B devices, so I do recommend the new 8900 DLX for anyone who wants to maintain good oral hygiene. But I would caution anyone who has dental implants, to consult their dental practitioner, and take reasonable care when using the 8900 DLX.

This is the third one of these i've had.The first one lasted 1 1/2 years and the 2nd one lasted 3 years so maybe this will last 6 years!? Each one seems to have some little improvements over the one before. The on/off button on the tooth brush part is still in a spot which, while convenient, may be too convenient and my finger sometimes bumps into it accidentally and shuts it off. So far I have not had any problem with the water part. In the previous one, I'd be in the midst of using it when a finger would bump into something and next thing I'd know I'd be getting a shower, which would cover me and most of the bathroom. However, since this is the third one I've gotten, I guess I like them well enough.

I saw this new brush head, with the little polisher in the middle, and thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm not disappointed with it and it cleans my teeth very well. I tried using the brush head that had softer bristles but I could see it wasn't doing the job and I needed to change. Haven't had a cavity (or anything other than regular cleaning) in 12 years. Coincidentally that's how long I've been using an Oral-B electric toothbrush. After I had been using it a year the Dental Hygienist remarked, "I have to hunt to find things to do in your mouth"...so I started getting my teeth cleaned once every 2 years. This saves time and money and, to me, this is a good thing in this economy. This type brush head is doing a good job. Not too sure the inner polisher is a big plus, but we'll see over a period of time.

I bought this on a lark, and was doubtful that it would really work. But it actually works well - you can see the difference after regular use.I use this with UltraBright toothpaste. It has received high marks in "consumer" magaizines for it's stain removal abilities, and is really cheap if you get it at Walmart (less than a dollar per tube). I use it about twice a week, and it makes a visible difference in cutting down and reversing my bad habits of lots of tea, coffee and cigarettes (far fewer of the latter than I used to, but still partake to a certain extent). I've tried using UltraBright with other Oral-B brush heads and while it still works to remove stains, the Pro White works better and quicker. Worth the cost charged.

I bought this as a 2nd toothbrush for my girlfriend who visits on the weekends. She normally uses the one that rotates by Oral B. After using this sonic TB she wants to take it home and leave the old one at my house. I highly recommend this TB. Had it since October '09 and have had no problems with it. Only lacks the travel case which you can easily rig one up but that would have been a nice accessory.

We bought 3 Sonicare brushes in our family several years ago, per our dentist's suggestion. They cost over $100/ea and they all died in a year or so (actually just the battery, but no way to replace just the battery). Since then, we were scared to waste hundreds of dollars again.

Then I found the Sonicare e3000 that uses 2 AA batteries, thought it could solve the battery problem. What a nightmare, water leaked in and broke them one after one.

Hopelessly, my attention went to Oral-B. First I bought a Vitality Sonic to give it a try; what a beautiful piece of garbage made in Germany. No vibe at all, as you see in the video. As reviews here say the Sonic Complete is as powerful as Sonicare and replacing the battery is possible, so I decided to give it a try when I saw the S-200 for less than 50 dollars shipped with 30-day return offered.

Cannot be happier. The timer does not shut off the brush at 2 minutes like the Sonicare does. The brush bristles are a little harder than Sonicare. Both are very good things to my tea teeth. It is indeed as powerful as Sonicare as you see in the video. Made in Germany, including the charger. No hassle to remove and clean the brush head; had to do those with the Sonicare each and every time, or it would get really disgusting. Both the brush and the head cost significantly less than Sonicare.

I have no idea why people are still buying Sonicare while this S-200 is so perfect and cost so little. I also wonder why Oral-B still bother to make garbage like the Vitality Sonic for $20 while this one only cost $20 more than that.

We owned an older model Braun power brush but it wasn't sonic. This is smaller and ligher--takes up way less counter space. The cleaning is wonderful and makes your mouth feel fresh and wonderful. It does however, make quite a 'singing' noise while using. My son actually LOVES how it sounds and wants his own...I think for some kids it would be a great way for them to brush-- you can open/close your mouth to change the pitch! Great price as well, it has come down in recent years. A pleasure to use.

For a while I hesitated to make a review of this product because while I was using it I had some troubles with waterpik hose. It is very taut and hard to use it without sliding back and forth the unit ( I placed a rag under it).I was hoping the hose would get softer the more I used it. It did not happen. Also, unit cover is very susceptible to fall into the tank and you have to very carefully while using it. My daily application was to clean my teeth using median speed. After this I would fill the tank with clean lukewarm water to ensure the system unit was thorougly cleaned.

My concerns were confirmed last night when unit failed to work. The motor runs but the unit does not sucks the water and of course the hose and pick do not get get water and it does not spin. I checked the grommet in the tank and tried to fix but it did not work. It is a real shame. More than fifty dollars for a unit I used a few months. I don't understand the poor quality of this unit. When I bought it I gave to my wife an Interplak water pick I had used for about 8 years with no problems. You can imagine 8 years without a single failure. Now, I guess I have to share with wife the old unit which is reliable, it has a nice soft hose, and it never slides in bathroom counter while I am cleaning my teeth.

I have never owned a water pik before. I did a little research before selecting this one and I am so impressed with it. It works really well and is small enough to not be in the way on the counter. The price was great as well. I wish we would have bought one long ago... I think it is a must buy if you have kids! But beware...it can get pretty messy. There is a learning curve for sure!

I was about to contact someone at the company:

For many years I had one of their Waterpiks, very simple design and easy to use.

It finally quit and I bought another brand, which was available on island. It was also satisfactory, but recently its motor slowed down from old age...

Because nobody fixes anything anymore, I thought I'd get back to Waterpik, by now available via Amazon.

What disturbs me is the on-off switch.

Firstly it should be installed UP & DOWN , NOT side-wise, and much more easily switched without so much pressure.

Has anyone at their firm tried to hold the extended pic in one hand, with the off-button held in, either over the basin or in the mouth, and then tried pushing that rocker-switch without moving the whole light-weight instrument from where it sits on the counter??? Fancy looks are not the most important:

Over the years I've owned several electric toothbrushes and liked none of them. While it was great having the rotating/vibrating heads to really scrub my pearly whites I was never able to create enough pressure (i.e., elbow grease) for a truly clean feeling (that I always got with a manual toothbrush)--and I really, really disliked the brushes that I could not turn off (they were on two-minute timers). Accordingly, I have long abandoned electric toothbrushes; in a perfect world there would be a toothbrush with its own built-in battery that would sport a rotating head and allow me to apply my own pressure.

Voila! The ORAL-B CROSSACTION BATTERY-POWERED TOOTHBRUSH is exactly what I've been looking for! With this puppy I can apply some toothpaste, turn on the battery, then go to town scrubbing my teeth--frontside, backside, and all around--with all the pressure I've grown accustomed to exert. I like the rubberized grip, and the indicator bristles let me know when it's time to move on to the next brush. But most of all I love the fresh, clean sensation I feel after every brush. Plus, as I travel alot, I love the convenience of having a battery-powered toothbrush without the hassle of dragging along a charger. So if you're into deep molar cleaning (and who isn't?) These sort of disposable brushes don't do quite as good a job as "the real thing" (e.g., Oral-B Professional Care Deluxe Electric Toothbrush -). However, even if you are used to a really good electric toothbrush, they still leave your teeth feeling clean and shiny.
I bought them for when I travel because:
- They are much better than a manual brush.
- There is less to carry; no need to take along a charger.
- If you forget it when you return home you won't be anywhere near as upset as if it was your "real" toothbrush.

I've been using electric toothbrushes for years, and although it was tough at first getting used to the vibration, now I can't do without them. I particularly like these brushes because they're small enough that the vibration isn't bothersome or painful (try having something large buzzing inside your mouth--not fun!)

For the price, these are probably the best brushes on the market. They last quite a long while, and are so cheap I don't have any guilt disposing of them when the batteries die. A great buy.

I bought these toothbrushes for the teenagers that live in my house or spend weekends here. The littles have always had battery toothbrushes in Hello Kitty, Spiderman, Pikachu, and Cinderella. The adults have Philips Sonicare. The teenagers made do with whatever the dentist's office sent home. I'm sure you can guess how they felt about that. (If they were as cute as all the little children, maybe I would have done something sooner.) Anyway, they now feel vindicated. They also have battery operated toothbrushes. Now they can make humming noises with all the little kids. :)

I love this toothbrush. I'm a methodical person and I like getting a consistent cleaning when I brush my teeth. It took a little bit to adjust to cleaning the brush and the unit separately, drying and putting back in the base but it is habit now. I have taken it on short vacation trips and it held its charge admirably for a week at two-three cleanings a day. I haven't tested it for more than a week because I keep it in the base and plugged in at home, although my wife keeps unplugging it for the hair dryer and curling iron off and on for weeks at a time and it has still held a good charge. The flossing brushes I use last between 3-6 months depending on how hard you brush. If you look at the clock/monitor it will tell you if you are brushing too hard, if your brush needs changing and how long you have been brushing - it even provides you with a number of smiley faces depending on how long you brush. I like the 30 second vibrating surges the brush makes to keep me moving to the next section of my mouth as well as the 2 minute surge to let me know I have brushed the minimum. I certainly recommend this brush. This brush will add to your "teeth life" and it helps keep your gums healthy too. Keep flossing though - it's tempting to stop when you get such a good cleaning.

I bought this toothbrush when my Sonicare began winding down after 6 years. I read somewhere on a review that it was better for sensitive teeth, so I bought this one instead of another Sonicare. Not one week after using this brush, I began to hate to brush my teeth. My gums would bleed and the brush heads were tearing my mouth apart. I then didn't feel like my mouth was clean enough. I even ordered the sensitive brush heads, but it didn't work. I began using my Sonicare again while I'm waiting for my new Sonicare to come in the mail. So, I wasted $150 on this toothbrush and got nothing except torn, swollen gums.

Like the other commenters I like the firm brush, it is hard to get a 'clean' feeling with a softer brush. I have used this reach a couple times, and have not found any other firm brands. Walmart used to carry it, but I have not been able to find it recently. I thought who needs "12 toothbrushes?" when I came across this item, but seeing the comments here about having problems finding them in stores and my own experience who knows how long they will be available so I might as well stock up. I had used the E-series type of brush for about 15 years and when the battery on the last one died ordered one of these
1. it does seem to clean better, the teeth feel noticeably smoother than with the E-series type design
2. it is much easier to clean- the snap on brush is a much better design than the screw on type design of the E-series
3. the smaller brush gets into the nooks and crannies better- I have big teeth that are a bit out of alignment
4. the "healthywhite" function is nice but hitting the start button twice does not always engage it
overall this is a big step up from the E-series type design and costs about the same will have to wait and see how long the battery lasts and have not yet checked how many uses it gives on a full charge (the charger is pretty small and can be taken on trips)

This update on the earlier Sonicare toothbrush is a worthy successor. The power handle and its recharging base are more compact, making a convenient fit in medicine cabinets or on counter tops. The HealthyWhite feature is a shift in vibration pattern that is refreshing, if nothing else. The feature results in a slightly longer brushing cycle, which is a good thing.
The base wrap around device is not an attractive solution to excessive cord length. The power cord remains thicker than it probably needs to be. It would be nice if the cord was detachable and available in varying lengths. One could then order the desired length. Alternatively, the charging base could be offered with different built in cord lengths. In my location, six or eight inches would be ideal so the long cord is a problematic wad on the counter.

I would definitely recommend someone to buy this toothbrush!! I went to the Dentist 3 weeks ago and found out I had a cavity and pinkness in my gums. As soon as I left the Dentist office, I went and bought this toothbrush. I've been using it for 3 weeks now twice a day. The pinkness in my gums is gone and my teeth are even looking whiter! If you don't think the toothbrush is whitening your teeth enough, try using the Arm and Hammer Whitening Booster with it. Together, they do wonders!!! My teeth feels so much cleaner after using this toothbrush.

I love this toothbrush. I used to have the Elite Sonicare. I Love the Healthy White sonicare better. The Pro Result tooth brushes are cheaper and easier to put on to the base. It just snaps on easy. I really like the battery in the tooth brush. It is more powerful and stays powerful through several brushings in a day. I did not get the more expensive Sonicare with the ProResults brush head. I did not need all the extra brushing modes. I would most likely not take the time to use all the extra modes, so I decided to get the Healthy White which was cheaper. I Highly recommend this product.

I bought this toothbrush after having lots of plaque build up and the beginnings of gum disease. This despite thorough cleanings with Braun Oral B that I had used happily for years. A friend recommended it and I followed up with lots of internet research. I'm thrilled with the purchase! I have yellowish teeth naturally (red hair beginnings) and I drink tea every morning. After only 1 week using this toothbrush on the regular setting, my teeth are noticeably whiter & my gums look pink and healthy. I haven't tried the "whitening setting" but have still had excellent results. I'm actually looking forward to my next dentist visit - I'm sure she'll have lots less work! (Amazon price was the best I found on internet and in stores.)

It's a shame that Amazon is no longer carrying this item. I bought mine in November 2009 for $26.99 - a great price.I have been fortunate with the use of this toothbrush and, touch wood, that will continue. Previously I had had a "normal" type Sonicare but not the latest model. This toothbrush has outperformed it in every way. I much prefer the relatively light brushhead and battery performance has been phenomenal. I am using two very high capacity rechargeable 2400 MAh batteries - an Alkaline AA has about 600MAh - and the first charge lasted over 2 months!!!I suspect that battery capacity may be a factor in the performance experienced by other reviewers. The toothbrush is driven of course by an electric motor which will demand a relatively high amperage (in contrast with the current drawn by a TV remote, for example). The greater the capacity of the battery, the longer the motor will be able to perform without any hiccups. In the second month of my first charge period, I did experience a few stoppages but found that these were easily fixed by removing the brushhead and putting it back on. It may have been that some accumulated debris was causing friction that prevented the motor from turning - particularly as the charge in the batteries was depleted. I have not - fingers crossed - experienced any of the water related issue mentioned by other reviewers. The battery compartment seems very tight and waterproof to me and, again, I wonder whether the problems that have been ascribed to water-related causes would have occurred with higher capacity batteries.

This is an excellent product. Mine has been working for OVER FOUR YEARS without a problem.I had Sonicares for years and the one and only drawback that I had with them is that once the rechargeable batteries died, your Sonicare was dead too. That was not an acceptable solution considering the price. If you used it every day, twice a day, you'd get about a year and a half out of them. When my last one died, I was so disappointed that I decided to go back to a manual brush and flossing routine. However, my professional cleaning was so BRUTAL after only six months of using a manual toothbrush vs. them being a breeze when I had my Sonicare, I knew that I had to get another one. I was so happy when this one came out. Now, I don't have to worry about throwing my expensive Sonicare away when the rechargeable batteries died. Better yet, this one wasn't even expensive. Many years ago now, I had gotten used to paying over $100 for a Sonicare. $26?? Are you kidding me? So it doesn't have the Quadpacer and the other fancy reminders. Big deal. It still does the whole job.I was a little hesitant to buy when I read some of the bad reviews caused by bad production or leakage. The issue about the brush getting wet didn't concern me. You're not supposed to get the bristles wet or else the toothpaste will foam in your mouth like crazy. Those people who wet the bristles probably are ruining their Sonicare e3000s. BUT in their defense, I poured over the instructions and they don't say not to wet the bristles. The old Sonicare instructions definitely instructed not to wet the bristles, just apply the toothpaste and brush your teeth, saliva being plenty enough moisture to do the job without making a huge foamy mess. I haven't wet my brush head in years and so my Sonicare doesn't get soaked. So maybe that's one problem with why these are getting poor reviews from a significant number of people.The other is that I bought a spare and then gave it to a friend as a gift. They opened it and it did not work at all. Luckily, it was still under warranty and I got a new one as a replacement which worked fine. This is the only reason I might think that there could be some quality control issues--just because I got one that left the factory not working for whatever reason.However, the three that I know of (because I gave two of them as gifts) are still working just great. I've had mine, the same one, going strong FOR OVER FOUR YEARS now. Seems like Philips is now realizing that the money is to be made selling the replacement heads, but, really, I only replace mine about once a year. Changing these heads every three months is like changing your oil in your car every 500 miles. It's nice. It won't hurt the car. But it's totally unnecessary.For $26 and free shipping from Amazon, you can't beat it. It sells at Target for the $40 price still. $26?? Ridiculously inexpensive, particularly when you consider that it also comes with a nice pair of AA batteries that are worth at least $3. For those who are swamping their e3000's to death STOP WETTING THE BRISTLES!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!! Just put toothpaste on the dry bristles and start brushing just like Philips used to tell you to do in the instructions for the original Sonicare.

About a year and a half ago I was shopping around for the best deal on a Sonicare toothbrush. This was (and still is) the cheapest Sonicare model available which I liked, yet there were a ton of negative reviews from frustrated users on Amazon which concerned me.After reading through the reviews I figured out that the #1 complaint from users was related to water getting inside of the toothbrush and wrecking havoc on the electronics there. There were a couple other problems brought up, but the others appeared to be rare enough that as long as you could get past Philip's poor job of waterproofing the case then this toothbrush had the potential to be a pretty good deal! I decided that since I could buy two or three of this model of Sonicare for the price of a single higher-end model I'd take my chances and just buy another one if it didn't work out.I've been using this model twice a day for over a year now and I'm pleased to report that it's working just as good as the day I bought it! The key is to be careful how you use it when you're brushing your teeth and how you set it down after. When putting it under the faucet try to only run water over the top half. I rinse off the bristles and its neck, but do not let any water run onto or over the base of the unit. When I'm done I do NOT set the unit on its base (which would lead to water left on the head dripping down onto its base. Instead I set it on its side. I also avoid setting it in any puddles that may have formed around the sink.It's funny that despite being marketed for child use this probably wouldn't be a very good toothbrush for a kid. It requires special care and they may be less likely to "baby" it, but it could be perfectly suitable for an adult to use!

I bought this as a direct replacement of the first one, which was recommended by my dentist. It lasted two years before the battery would no longer hold a charge. That wasn't very good, but I like the way it works, and my checkups have been good since using it - much better than when I was using a manual brush, and that's the bottom line for me. We'll see if this one lasts longer. Amazon's price on sale was about 25% less than Target or Walmart. I find I replace the brush head about twice as frequently (about 6 weeks) as recommended by Oral B. It pays to buy them in bulk at a wholesale club.

I had been using a Sonicare Power Toothbrush for 5 years before switching over to the Oral-B. This switch was based on the suggestion of my dentist. He feels that the Sonicare just does not work as well as the Oral-B and the upkeep with the Oral-B would be easer. After using the Oral-B for three months, I have to agree with my dentist. The upkeep is much easer as the head of the brush is removable not allowing gunk and mildew to build up inside the handle. With the Sonicare toothbrush, I had to unscrew the head from the handle once a week and using a Q-tip, wipe the inside clean from the buildup. This was quite an annoying task and consumed 15 to 20 minutes each time. With the Oral-B, this is not possible because the thin brush head is removed every time after use and stored within the self contained holder making the clean up very easy. Another point I would like to make, is the brush heads cost much less that the Sonicare ones making this brush more economical to own. All in all, I am very happy I switch to the Oral-B.

this is sooo wonderful as my little one has his top 4 front teeth and 2 front bottom teeth since he was 5-6 months old. He is now 10 months old and still loves holding this soft handled rubbery toothbrush...the finger toothbrushes are difficult to use at times but the razz-a-dazzle toothbrush allows the baby to hold it and chew on the toothbrush and have fun with it. he holds on to it and whenever he wants to put it in his mouth he can do so. great baby toothbrush!!

i think this is the best first toothbrush ever...my little holds it in his hands and really puts it in his mouth,... the entire toothbrush is soft and chewy for the baby. he holds it all the time as if it was another toy to put in his mouth. i put a little of the infant toothpaste to which he also enjoys with the Raz A Dazzle toothbrush. I let my little one hold on to it wherever we travel ..it is like another toy to hold on to. what i like is that he could chew on the other end( the handle part)as it is soft and not a hard plastic as other toothbrushes are. I enjoy this toothbrush over the finger ones as my baby has six teeth and he likes to bite or chew everything...having a finger toothbrush would be difficult with babies who have teeth...thus I suggest using the Raz A Dazzle toothbrush...,.I bought 4 of them.... he loves it and so do we...worth the purchase and money!!!

I am very pleased with Philips Sonicare UV Sanitizer. I have used a Germ Terminator for several years but the sanitizer is much easier to use and takes up less space. I feel that the germs usually on a toothbrush can extend the time of illness but when you sanitize your toothbrush every time you use it, you are not re-infecting yourself. I would recommend it.

The ultraviolet light disinfection process used by this unit may make some people think it's the latest quack invention, but ultraviolet light is being used in hospitals for disinfection. With H1N1 and other viruses around, it is great to take 10 short minutes to disinfect our toothbrush heads. I love my husband, but don't want to share his toothbrush grunge by storing our toothbrush heads close together in a toothbrush holder! The unit has a minimal size footprint and fits on my sink without being in the way. This was an excellent health investment for very little money!
